Day 35
Ruth 4:11
“May you act worthily in Ephrathah and be renowned in Bethlehem”
A reward that brings prestige.
I read an article this morning about an American
actress who was known years ago as the sweet and lovable aunt of the main
characters of the show, known and respected by all in a made-up southern town.
Many years after the show ended, both main characters went to her house to try
to mend the relationship between them, but she did not open her door. It happened
that this lady had been classically trained in very prestigious schools, only
to be known in the U.S. as a simple homemaker who baked pies and offered good
advice. Television had stereotyped her, and she could never shake it off. During
the taping, she kept quiet and isolated. She was always sad and thoughtful, and
the tension between her and the rest of the cast was clear because she did not
receive the recognition she expected.
We all long to be recognized. Anyone who says
otherwise is only expressing a false humility. It is part of our human nature.
It is one of the basic needs of man. We need to be seen. We need someone who
knows we are here. We need to be valued. When this does not happen, bitterness
and resentment can find a place in our lives and make us negatively look at the
world. But when we are seen and recognized, our value is confirmed. That is why God is constantly saying that He
sees us.
This can be considered a prophetic verse. “[May
you] be renowned in Bethlehem.” When God rewards our work and our faith, others
take notice. When we say, “Look at what my Father did for me,” He, like a proud
dad, says, “Look at what my kid did.” God rejoices in our success. He rejoices
in our triumphs. He rejoices when we do his will, and when we testify of Him,
he testifies of us.
Daughter of the Most High God, receive the reward
from your Father. #getittogethergirl. Your Daddy sees you. You will be
renowned in His house. Tell all that He has done for you. Testify of His
goodness and faithfulness. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and you will see
how He sees you, and He makes others see you as well.
Lord, yours is the glory and honor. You have
decided to see me and reward me for my triumphs and successes, which are
nothing but your triumphs and successes in my life. Thank you because you have
seen me. Thank you because you saw it fit to lift me up, and now, others see me
because of it. Don’t ever let me forget that it was your hand that brought me
out of Moab to bring me back to Bethlehem; that it was your hand that brought
me out of darkness and into the light. But don’t let me become prideful. Keep
me humble without forgetting that whatever I have, it is only because or your
grace. In the name of Jesus, amen.
My reflection:
“Well
done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a
little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.”
Matthew
25:21
