Ruth 4:15
“Your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than
seven sons, has given birth to him.”
Ruth 4:15
A reward that blesses others.
God does not do anything capriciously. He sees the entire
picture while focusing individually on each person. His blessings are a domino
effect. A man smiles gently at the ticket counter agent at the airport, whom he
does not know has had a bad day. She in turn feels appreciated and gives the
next passenger a ticket for an earlier
flight, which he so desperately needs that day. That passenger now has tine to
buy his daughter a doll. His daughter receives it gladly and takes it to school
to show her friends. All play happily and go home smiling…You get it?
The rewards and benefits that God gives us are not for us to
keep hidden. Ruth received her reward when Boaz bought the properties that
belonged to Naomi and decided to marry her, thus redeeming the house of
Elimelech. But the reward was not hers alone. Naomi was also blessed with a
grandson that brought her happiness in her old age. Boaz received prestige and
a good name among his peers. Israel received the lineage of David. From the
lineage of David, Jesus was born. Now, not only Israel
, but the entire world was
blessed, now and for eternity.
No, God does not do anything capriciously or on impulse. All
his actions are calculated to the smallest detail. That’s how He formed the
physical world, where all creation works in harmony, from the great cosmos to
the most minute atom and even further. Your life and mine are not mere isolated
events. We are all part of the bigger picture, and you have a place in it. As
it was with Ruth, when her reward was temporary and eternal, personal and
collective.
Have you been through trials and tribulations? Have you
experienced a personal loss? Have you suffered the consequences of your sin?
Have you been the victim of someone else’s actions? You are not alone, my
friend. Your Father, your King, who crowned you from the beginning, wants to
bless you. He wants to reward your faithfulness. Go, #getittogethergirl,
but don’t think that God has rewarded you so you can keep it to enjoy it by
yourself. What God gave you will bless others as well, who knows for how long.
Give him thanks. Worship him, because he “is more to you than seven sons.”
Father, thank you because after all my suffering, you have
rewarded me. You allowed me to go through trials and tribulations that I never
thought I could bear, but with your help and grace, I did. Yours is the glory
now and forever. Just give me the humility to receive your reward with one hand
and the generosity to share it with the other.
My reflection.
“Rejoice
and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven…you are the salt of the earth…you
are the light of the world.”
Matthew
5:12-14
